Court Opinions

Knowing the black letter law is only the first step. It is critical that community associations understand what a judge thinks is important. With that in mind, the firm has decided to make available a digest of many of the state and federal court opinions it has found useful.

Some are valuable ammunition in the constant struggle to enforce covenants and collect assessments…and others simply let you know where the rocks are in the river.

The great majority of opinions, both published and unpublished, were decided in Virginia. Few state judges are as interested in cases decided outside the Commonwealth. However, where federal law applies, there are a few cases from other jurisdictions.
