Community Association Law
Segan, Mason & Mason, P.C. specializes in the representation of homeowner and condominium associations in the State of Virginia. Even prior to the formation of our law firm, shareholders Bob Segan, Donna Mason, and Bill Mason were actively representing communities with a prior law firm since the early 80's. Bob, Donna and Bill each have over 35 years of experience in this area and shareholder Aimée T.H. Kessler has over 15 years. We actively participate in the drafting and lobbying of legislation for community associations. Bill Mason was a member of the Legislative Action Committee ("LAC") as well as a member of the prestigious College of Community Association Lawyers. In addition, Aimée T.H. Kessler is a frequent guest speaker on Fairfax County Government's Channel 16 program "Your Community, You're Connected." We provide full service to an association client that includes document interpretations and drafting, collections, contract reviews, covenant enforcement, bankruptcy issues, developer transition issues, obtaining FHA Certifications and more.
Since community association law is a relatively new area that is constantly evolving, it is even more important to have a law firm that specializes in community association representation to make sure your association is getting the best legal advice based on the latest court rulings and statutory changes. We pride ourselves in making sure we educate our clients and provide to them the options and possible outcomes to any decision made. Sometimes litigation may be the right course of action for one association but not for another due to the risk and expense. This is why lawyers should never forget that they are also "counselors of law".
